Products & Services: Levels of Integration

Examples of Component Products include AC/DC motors, drives and gear reducers. A simple AC Induction motor can be customized to include special shafts, integral mechanical brackets, cable glands and specific electrical wiring connections for the volume OEM.

FFI Automation can package the proper AC/DC motors and gear reducers together as a packaged product with 100% testing and inspection.

FFI Automation has created an organization that is capable of being a virtual division of an OEM. We can be the outsourced engineering and manufacturing division for application specific or "perfect-fit" automation solutions for the OEM. All of our services lend themselves to making your complete, final product as productive and profitable as possible.

We offer many services, we have broken them down into four basic Levels of Integration.

Level 1 - Component Products
FFI Automation can supply "off-the-shelf" products and "customized" products. These include:

• AC Induction Motors
• DC Brushless Motors
• DC Brushed Motors
• All types of matching gear reducers including worm gear reducers
• All types of mating drive technology
• Sensor technology (inductive, capacitive, analog/digital sensors)
• Enclosures (metal or plastic enclosures, any environment)

FFI Automation controls the product quality by specifying the exact raw components that go into the product. For example, if we are supplying a gear reducer, we specify the bearings, lubrication and construction details. We are typically looking at the application including torque, velocity, inertia, shock-factor and duty cycle requirements to offer a "perfect-fit" product to the OEM.

Level 2 - Packaged Products
Packaged products consist of (* component *) products packaged together. For example, we can supply an AC Induction motor together with an integral gear reducer. The motor and gear reducer are assembled and tested as a packaged product.

Level 3 - Integrated Automation Assemblies
Integrated automation assemblies consist of mechanical/electrical sub-assemblies. Typically, the integrated assembly is a complete sub-assembly for an application. Examples include a DC Brushed Motor, gear reducer, and control system packaged into a custom electrical enclosure. As with all of the FFI Automation products, the sub-assembly is 100% tested and inspected locally in Minneapolis, MN. Additional examples of integrated automated solutions are:

• Simple Gear motors, drives, logic control, sensors and control packages in wired sub-assemblies
